Two Ewe and Mina Female Figures

A pair of hand-carved wooden figures from two West African cultures. The first is an Ewe venavi female figure with tab-shaped hands, cylindrical breasts, rounded shoulders and a small head with a bulbous nose. The second is a Mina female figure with a distended abdomen, sloping shoulders and a large head with almond-shaped eyes and a textured coiffure. Both stand with delineated legs on integral platforms and carry a lustrous caramel-toned patina.
