Early 20th C. Polynesian Fijian Coconut Cups (pr)

Oceania, Polynesia, Fiji Islands, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine pair of cups formed from shaved coconut halves with rounded bases and thin rims. The first vessel exhibits more of a rounded profile, and the largest cup features a tapered body that protrudes on one end. The exterior surfaces are nicely polished and bear a lustrous sheen. Size of largest (tapered body): 4.8" L x 4.4" W x 2" H (12.2 cm x 11.2 cm x 5.1 cm)
