A carved wood ceremonial mask of highly stylised form, with a weathered and encrusted surface showing field use. Masks of this type were worn in front of a basketry mask together with a thick fibre costume and danced in sacred rituals, possibly connected with ancestor veneration. Attributed to the Idoma or perhaps the Igbo peoples of Nigeria.
