Americas Tribal Art
Two Guatemalan dance masks, hand carved and hand painted, each fitted with a cord for wearing. The first is a Conquista Teco Uman mask representing a moustached man, with two green and red birds on the forehead whose feathered tails frame the face and with brown glass eyes. The second depicts a mythical bull or cow painted yellow and red, with large ears, long twisted horns and an open, smiling mouth showing teeth and a pink tongue. Both show wear: the first lacks one eye and a headpiece, and the second has faded paint and nicks to the wood.
