African Tribal Art
A carved wooden ancestor figure of the Zande, one of the two principal statue types the group produced. Made from light-coloured wood with darker details, it has stylised features, an elongated face and an enlarged head, with the lower legs clearly articulated. The condition is fair, with wear throughout; part of the left leg has been restored and the figure stands somewhat unsteadily on its own. The surface carries a patina of age.
