Two African Djenne Pottery Spouted Jars

West Africa, Niger Delta, Mali, Djenne peoples, Middle Niger Civilization, ca. ca. 19th century CE. A lovely pair of pottery spouted jars, each hand-sculpted to present a globular body, a slender, tall, tapering spout, and a flared rim. Though the larger features a bare exterior, the more petite displays incised rings at the base of the neck, red slip on the shoulder and spout, and liberal remains of white-hued decoration on the body.
