Ogoni Wood Dance Maskette

A small hand-carved wood mask with a very prominent chin and wide eyes, the ears apparently carved with jewellery. The drilled eyes recall those of much earlier Nok terracotta sculpture from Nigeria, suggesting a continuity of local visual tradition rather than an isolated form.
