A multi-headed sculpture of the type used within the Bwami society, carved in two tiers, each with four opposing heads. The faces are otherwise identical, but every other one has wide open, staring eyes while the remainder have half-closed eyes.

Estate of Thomas McNemar (1931-2020), who lived and collected throughout Central and West Africa in the 1960s and 1970s and established galleries of African art in New York and San Francisco.
