A carved wood mask of spare form, with coffee-bean eyes set into a concave, heart-shaped facial plane and minimally rendered nose and mouth. The surface carries a rich dark patina.

Estate of Thomas McNemar (1931-2020), who lived and collected throughout Central and West Africa in the 1960s and 1970s and established galleries of African art in New York and San Francisco.
