A figure of mwana hiti type, with a split-lobe hairstyle and eyes set with inset beads. The tapering columnar body has small breasts and rises from a three-legged stool with incised decoration on the legs. Possibly a shrine figure.

Estate of Thomas McNemar (1931-2020), who lived and collected throughout Central and West Africa in the 1960s and 1970s and established galleries of African art in New York and San Francisco.
