Bornean Working Axe

A hand-made utilitarian axe from the island of Borneo, of a type used for clearing dense jungle. The sharpened iron blade slots into a notch in the wooden handle and is held in place with woven rattan. The handle has a short butt that counterbalances the head, and a raised bamboo lower end wrapped in decorative rattan at its upper terminal.
