A heavy cast hinge, roughly square, with torn edges and a raised boss at one corner. The reverse carries a repeating cross and floral pattern. The piece is very heavy for its size, which points to lead or another white-metal composite. Clearly a hinge, and most likely from a book or manuscript binding.
