Waking Up

Preston Pond in West Bolton, Vermont, in early spring, 'when everything is just beginning to wake up after a long winter', in the artist's words. A low, wide-angle view looks across flattened straw-coloured marsh grass and pale driftwood to the still blue water, a dark wall of spruce on the right and bare, rose-tinged hardwoods on the left, under a sky of vigorous, windswept brushwork. Painted in July 2026 as a teaching demonstration for one of her landscape classes. Signed lower right.
